I don't know if anyone else deals with this but every year when those strong northern winds hit our farm in Al Dhaid, the lids on our outdoor bins go flying across the yard like frisbees. We've lost so many plastic lids it's ridiculous. Last month I decided to try something different and ordered an 1100 litres galvanized bin with flat lid from Crateco, mostly because the lid looked heavy enough to stay put. Well we just had our first big windstorm since it arrived and I'm happy to report that thing didn't budge an inch. The lid sits flush and has this nice lip that seems to catch the rim so it can't just lift off. The only downside is it's a two person job to take the lid off when the bin is full because it's genuinely heavy, but honestly that's a fair trade for not chasing lids across the paddock every morning. One thing I didn't think about though, the metal surface gets absolutely scorching in direct sun so definitely wear gloves if you're handling it midday. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is fed up with the lid situation.
